Pfister Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) | Pfister Canada
Français Frequently Asked Questions Pfister General FAQs How can I identify the type of cartridge that I have? If you're in the hunt for a cartridge, chances are that you have a drip or other issue and we want to get you taken care of quickly. We have several options on our site to help you identify, order and replace your cartridge and get your faucet in working order again. Here are some steps to help you identify what cartridge you need: Let’s start by identifying your faucet. If you still have your packaging or instruction manual, the product model number (usually an 8 digit code, i.e. F-529-7AYY) is displayed on the product package and on the instruction manual right below the product name. If you don't know your model number, we have an easy-to-use filter feature to help narrow it down. On the home page hover over KITCHEN or BATHROOM. Then select the type of faucet you have (for example BATHROOM FAUCETS or CENTERSET). From there you can easily filter by Category, Finishes, Price / Style, or use the Advanced filter feature. Select your matching product. Click on INSTALLATION & SUPPORT to open the PARTS DIAGRAM and identify your cartridge. If you've already removed the cartridge and want to identify a replacement that way, you can also search our cartridges directly if you know the part number or what it looks like. From the home page hover over PARTS & SUPPORT, click REPLACEMENT PARTS, and select CARTRIDGES. You can filter by cartridge type to help identify what you are looking for. Once you select a cartridge there is a thumbnail image that shows the approximate dimensions of the cartridge. You can also scroll down to get exact specifications. Once you have identified your cartridge, it's time to order! If your product is covered by our Lifetime Warranty, please contact our customer service team for your product parts: 1-800-PFAUCET (1-800-732-8238) – it helps if you have the part number from step 2) To purchase replacement parts for your out of warranty faucet, visit our WHERE TO BUY page. We have put a lot of information on our website to help you quickly identify what cartridge you need, but remember we're here to help you in person and always happy to have a conversation. Please call us at 1-800-PFAUCET (1-800-732-8238) so that we can get you back to loving your Pfister product again. How do I clean and care for the faucet on my product? Regular cleaning and caring for your faucet is the best way to keep its beautiful finish lasting a lifetime! Here are a few steps you can take to ensure your faucet continues to look great: Wipe down your faucet with a soft cloth dampened with warm water. This will help clear away minor build up and some spots. Make sure to dry the wiped down areas with a dry soft cloth. If you've already tried that step and still have some buildup on your faucet, you can try adding some white vinegar mixed with water (a 50/50 ratio of each) with your soft cloth. Again, you will use a dry soft cloth to wipe away any excess residue. If you're still seeing buildup or spots on your faucet, using a mild soap or mild cleaner may help. Please note that you want to avoid using any acids or solvents on your faucet as this may damage your faucet's finish and can void the warranty. A great option for high use areas of your home or for those products that seem to collect water spots is Pfister's Spot Defense™ protective finish, which resists the daily build-up of fingerprints and water spots. Along with regular wiping down as mentioned in step 1 above, Spot Defense™ finished faucets are a great way to keep your kitchen and bathrooms looking pristine. Hopefully these steps have helped you, but if you still have some questions, don't worry, we've added some additional steps you can review in the troubleshooting section on our website. You can also contact our service team using our "Ask a Question" section on our website or by calling us at 1-800-PFAUCET (1-800-732-8238). What should I look for when purchasing a new faucet? My Kitchen Handle is not Working Properly
Français Home Parts & Support Troubleshooting Problem with My Kitchen Handle Troubleshooting Problem with My Kitchen Handle General Issue With Handle General Steps: Please follow these two General Steps for Any Issues you have on your kitchen handle, then proceed to specific issue you have and continue on those steps. General Step 1: Turn Off Water We're sorry that your handle isn't feeling like it should - luckily, this is normally an easy fix that you can do at home. Whether too loose or too stiff, there are steps below that will help you address each. Before you start, Remember to turn off the water under the sink at your angle stops. General Step 2: Get Familiar with Parts Before we begin, we wanted to highlight the parts involved with troubleshooting a typical pull-out faucet handle assembly. From top to bottom you'll see the handle itself (set screw and allen wrench that holds it in place behind it), the dome cap, and the retainer ring. The following steps walk you through what to do with each. Handle Turning Off Water On It's Own Problem: The Handle is loose or will turn off the water by itself (self-close) Remove Handle For any handle performance issue, we'll start by removing the handle itself. You'll need to find the set screw (most times it's directly under the handle) and use a 3/32 allen wrench to remove it by turning counter-clockwise until it comes out (save for later). Occasionally the set screw hole is covered by a plug, which you can pop off with a small flat head screwdriver. Remove the handle by pulling straight up. Unthread the Dome Cap Unthread the dome cap so that you can access the retainer nut. Tigthen Retainer Ring If your faucet's handle is really loose or closing by itself, let's tighten the retainer ring using a crescent wrench and turning it clockwise until tight. The retainer ring is the cream colored, threaded plastic part in this picture. There are flats spots on each side where you can place your wrench. You can test the handle functionality by simply sliding the handle back over the cartridge and opening and closing. If it feels better, reinstall the dome cap and handle. The water flow is weak or not coming out of my faucet. Problem: I just installed my new pull-out faucet and have low flow Solution 1: Note about Flow rate restrictions If you’re replacing a kitchen faucet that is more than 5-10 years old, chances are that you might perceive a difference in flow rate. Modern faucets comply with EPA regulations regarding how many gallons can flow during each minute of use. They can range from 1.5gpm to 1.8 gpm today versus up to 2.5gpm several years back, so you might experience up to a 1/3 reduction in flow. The good news is that modern aerators and new spray technologies are very efficient and make good use of available water. Solution 2: Flush the Lines Sometimes, the process of installing a new faucet dislodges debris and buildup in your plumbing lines. This is why we recommend that installers "flush the lines" before hooking up the new faucet. We know that not everyone is great at following directions step-by-step (kind of like guys asking for directions), so you might try the following steps to make sure your lines and aerator are clean. Remove Sprayhead First let's remove the sprayhead from the pull out hose. Your hose is fixed to your sprayhead through a threaded attachment. While grasping the ball joint assembly immediately behind the sprayhead, turn your sprayhead counterclockwise to remove. Clear the Hose Let's turn the water on now with the sprayhead off, making sure to point the hose into the sink Clear the Aerator If your water pressure is better with the sprayhead off, the clog may be in the sprayhead aerator. Let's remove this part and clean out any debris. There are two kinds of aerators in pull-out kitchen faucets: those that sit in a housing that extends a little beyond the sprayface, and those that sit flush with the sprayface. Remove regular aerator Removing the type that extend beyond the sprayface is simple. Using a crescent wrench on the flat parts of the aerator housing, turn counterclockwise until it comes off. Remove cache aerator Removing the type that sits flush with the sprayface requires an aerator key, which was supplied with your faucet. Simply engage the teeth on the key with those on your aerator and turn counterclockwise until it comes off. These keys tend to end up in the kitchen junk drawer, so if you can't find yours there are two options: 1. they are common items and sold at most home improvement stores or 2. call Pfister and we will send you one.

Bathroom Handle - Stiff or Difficult to Operate
Français Home Parts & Support Troubleshooting My faucet handles are stiff or difficult to operate Troubleshooting My faucet handles are stiff or difficult to operate Handles are Stiff Or Difficult to Operate Problem: My handle(s) are hard to turn Solution: Remove build-up within the handle. Turn Off Water Let's start by turning off the water supply to your faucet. Remove The Handle (set screw) There are two ways to remove your handle, depending on how it was manufactured. If you feel a hole behind the handle at the base, you have a set-screw design. Use a 3/32'' allen wrench to loosen the set screw and remove the handle. Removing Handle Hub If there is no set screw hole, your handle will simply twist off. Remove the handle hub by turning the handle hub (or base) counter clockwise. Remove Water Build-up Within Handles Now that the handle is off, we can try and isolate the problem. Using the handle assembly that you just removed, work the handle back and forth in your hand (while uninstalled). If the handle is stiff to rotate without the cartridge, then it is possible there may be some build-up within the handle preventing it from rotating smoothly. Try soaking your handle in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water for 30-60 minutes to see if this helps clear the build-up. Call Pfister If your handle moved freely when separated from the cartridge, or if you soaked it, reinstalled and it is still difficult to turn, you may need a new cartridge. We're here to help. Disconnect my pull-down or pull-out Hose I want to disconnect my pull-down or pull-out kitchen faucet hose Disconnecting the hose To troubleshoot your pull-down faucet hose, you often need to disconnect it. Your hose connects to the faucet at two ends--one to the sprayhead and one to the faucet body underneath the cabinet. To disconnect underneath the cabinet, determine hose type Start with the end underneath the cabinet. We've made faucets for a long time and hoses have evolved over the years. When viewing the hose connection underneath your cabinet, take a look at three common hose connection types to the right (nylon hose quick-connect, metal hose quick connect, or threaded) and choose the one that looks the most like yours. Click to Zoom Disconnect nylon hose quick-connect, and Identify the quick-connect type If you have a version with a quick-connect on this end of the hose, removal is easy. There are 4 major types that we use pictured to the right. Choose the one that most closely resembles yours and follow the steps to disconnect it. Click to Zoom Disconnecting Under the Cabinet - Type 1 Disconnecting Under the Cabinet - Type 2 Disconnecting Under the Cabinet - Type 3 Disconnecting Under the Cabinet - Type 4 For type 4 / white connector: push the connector up towards the underside of the sink as if you’re installing it, next pinch the two white tabs on the side of the top of the connector while simultaneously pulling down towards the bottom of the cabinet until it comes off. Remove the white quick connector from the hose by twisting it counter-clockwise. Note: Some older versions of this piece have two parts and may initially come apart as shown to the right. If that happens, simply remove the second piece and reconnect it to the quick connect assembly. Save this part for later. Click to Zoom Disconnect metal hose quick connect For metal hoses with a quick connect: push up on the assembly towards the faucet as if you are installing it. Simultaneously pull the gray ring at the top of the brass tube down towards the floor - this relieves pressure on the collet holding the connector in place and allows you to remove it. Now pull the whole assembly down towards the floor and it will slide off. Click to Zoom Disconnect threaded type If you have a version with a threaded Connection on this end of the hose, hold the hose end with an open end wrench (often 8/16") and loosen the tube coupling nut (8D) with another open end wrench (often 9/16). Be sure not to twist the hose. Click to Zoom Remove the weight Next, we need to remove the weight that helps your sprayhead retract so that you can thread the hose back through the faucet spout. Loose Weight If your faucet uses a loose "donut" style weight, simply through the hose through the weight until it clears. Save the weight for later. Click to Zoom Fixed Weight If your faucet uses a fixed weight--where it is attached to the hose--find the specific type that yours is below and follow the instructions to remove. Fixed

There is a Problem with My Soap Dispenser
Français Home Parts & Support Troubleshooting There is a Problem with My Soap Dispenser Troubleshooting There is a Problem with My Soap Dispenser Common Problems and Solutions Problem: My soap pump is not pumping Check for soap We don’t mean to offend, but you’d be surprised how often this issue is fixed with the following step. If your soap pump is not pumping soap, please check to make sure you have soap solution in the bottle by taking a peak under the cabinet. We've made our bottles clear so that you can see if there's something in there. Try a few extra pumps Some folks fill their soap pumps with different and interesting things in addition to dish soap, from designer hand soaps to luxurious lotions (we believe in moisturizing too). Our pumps are optimized for the most common application—dish soap—and some of the thicker liquids can take 10-15 pumps to make their way up the tube. Gravity pulls them back down over time, so give it a few extra pumps to see if this is happening to you. The soap is sticky We design our soap pumps so that you can fill them from the top, which is a lot easier than having to unscrew them every time. Sometimes, we fill them a little too much and soap overflows the bottle and goes into the pumping mechanism. It'll work for a while, but when liquid soap dries it gets very sticky and can obstruct the pump itself. Fill to the level Remove the pump Soak in water Keeping the straw in place, soak them in a pan of hot water for 15 minutes while keeping them completely submerged. Pump the head under water until the mechanism moves freely. Flush the pump Once it moves, pump some of that hot water through the fill straw to clear out the inside as well. Remove from the water, pump a few more times to remove excess water and reinstall. Still not pumping? Call Pfister If the steps above don't work, it may be time for a new mechanism. Problem: My soap pump gets stuck Soap is sticky We design our soap pumps so that you can fill them from the top, which is a lot easier than having to unscrew them every time. Sometimes, we fill them a little too much and soap overflows the bottle and goes into the pumping mechanism. It'll work for a while, but when liquid soap dries it gets very sticky and can obstruct the pump itself. Fill Level Reminder Remove Pump Soak in water
